TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD

new officers elected The annual meeting of the'Lower Hutt Townswomen’s Guild was held recently. The new presidnt for tiie year will be Mrs. Boswell, Mrs. Williams secretary, and Mrs. Smith treasurer. Mrs. Shearer presented sprays to all the retiring committee members and convenors of circles. After afternoon tea had been served Mrs. Walton (Dominion president) explained the foundation and working of the Guild. Mrs. Cole, ex-president, and Mrs. Walton were presented with beautiful shoulder sprays. The best flower competition for the year was won by Mrs. Murray, with Mrs. Judd second. The best dower for the month was won by Mrs. Hynam, with Mrs. Smith second. A happy afternoon was brought to a close by the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem. YEAR’S WORK REVIEWED < At the annual meeting held recently of the Ava Townswomen’s Guild there was a good attendance. Five new members were enrolled. The officers for the ensuing year are Mrs. Cox, president; Mrs. Leach, treasurer; and Mrs. Offord secretary. The year's reports were well received and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to officers and president. Items were given by Mesdames Pole and Scotson. Mrs. Bold and Mrs. Cnley. A very interesting talk on the West Indies was given by the Rev. A. B. Gloyiio, Wellington City Missioner. Afternoon tea was served and the National Anthem brought a happy afternoon to an end.
