TRIBUTES TO MAYOR

The manner in. which the Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, had presided at the recent New Zealand Municipal Conference in Rotorua was referred to eulogistical|y by Councillor E. P. Hay at the last meeting of the Lower Hutt City Council.
Mr. Hay said it had given him much pleasure, when sitting at the conference, to see the Mayor presiding over a conference of some of the leading men of New Zealand with an ability recognised and admired by all. The conference had shoved its confidence in Mr, Andrews by re-electing him president and appointing him the representative of local bodies on the Local Government Commission. He moved that the Council congratulate the Mayor upon the honour done him. Councillor W. C. Gregory seconded Hie motion, and Councillor Dudding added a word of praise. The motion was carried with acclamation. Ti>e Mayor, in expressing thanks, said the conference had been attended by 300 delegates, and it, had been one of the most important and fruitful yet held.
