Hutt Swimming Club

"LEARN TO SWIM" CAMPAIGN At the last committee meeting oi the Hutt Swimming Club it was deeded to launch a "Learn to Swim" campaign in Lower Hutt in the joining season, tentatively to start n January. It is proposed to send several members of the club to the Wellington Swimming Centre's .lasses for instructors in the McCabe uethod, and when proficient they /ill work under the supervision of .he club captain, Eric Kershaw, who ivas an instructor in Wellington's ampaign last year. It was also decided to re-commencf ife-saving classes, and the com nittee considers itself fortunate i >btaining the assistance of two loca nembers of the Royal Life-saving Society, namely Mr. C. Richardsoi md Mr. L. Andrews. Mr. Richardson has always beer, eady to advise and assist the cluL n every way. and Mr. Andrews, who las recently returned from overseas ,ias always shown himself to be enthusiastic and capable in all branches jf life-saving. The question of reviving the competition for the Nash Cup met with instant approval, the competition being an open and all-round one t'oi teams from the Wellington clubs. It ■onsists of events in all branches of competitive swimming, and is in itself a night's work, contested b> Wellington's best swimmers. At the close of the meeting Mr. Kershaw submitted to the committee ;he plans of the new Mulvihill swimning machine. Although it. looked like one of the late Mr. Heath Robinion's most inspired contraptions, uhere is no doubt that it is mechani.ally sound, and in fact it looks like he answer to a swimmer's prayer .'or early summer training, and it was decided to have one built for the club. The club is looking forward to a busy season.
