LOWER HUTT LIBRARY
DECREASE IN SUBSCRIBERS Referring to the librarian's report to the last meeting of the Lower Hutt City Council Cr. F. Lonsdale said it was 4 regrettable to see a decrease in the number of subscribers. They had a very good library, to which from 150 to 200 new books were added each month, and something should be done about the drop in subscribers. The Mayor explained that the library would become "free" next year, therefore as subscriptions became due subscribers were taken off the list. Another factor was that schools were issuing more books to pupils, ■with the. result that fewer books •were being taken from the children's section of the public library.
