Books from Australia

y ENTERPRISING PUBLISHERS Recently returned from a business trip to Australia, Mr. John Hogan is enthusiastic about the enterprising plans of Australian publishers and the high quality of their productions. He believes that a much greater proportion of New Zealand's book imports in future will come from Australia rather than from England or America, and that prices and quality will compare more i han favourably. There are some excellent novels by Australian authors being published, besides reprints of English and American books, and some most attractive children’s books, states Mr. Hogan. Australian publishers are also looking for author talent in New Zealand, and in view of the present paper shortage in the Dominion this will be as well for us. Big plans for expansion are in hand across the Tasman, and reciprocal arrangements between firms in both countries will be of mutual benefit.
