MR. HOGAN’S TRIP.
NO CONNECTION WITH ELECTION Statements that his recent visit to Australia, coinciding with the Federal election campaign, had some political significance were incorrect, states Mr. John Hogan. His addresses and broadcasts had no connection with the election, and were concerned only with general social and economic issues. He did not take any part in electioneering, while naturally interested in the campaign and its possible bearing on the forthcoming New Zealand elections. In the 1940 Federal Elections Mr. Hogan polled 12,000 votes as an Independent candidate for Riverina (N.S.W.).
