New Electoral Roll
OFFICERS' HECTIC TTME. CHANCE IN BOUNDARIES. The main electoral roll for the Hutt electorate closed last Friday, and the Registrar of Electors. Mr. A. W; McDonald, and other officers had a hectic time during the last three days dealing with inquiries from people who wished to make sure that their names were on the roll. Owing to the change in boundaries two-thirds of the old Hutt district has gone into the Petone electorate. About 10,000 cards went out to form part of the new Petone area. About 7,000 cards were received from the old Wellington Suburbs electorate, which was one of the biggest in New Zealand. The old Hutt roll was practically useless for checking purposes, and the only, safe qheck was from the cards themselves.
The main roll will consist of approximately 12,000 names. As soon as the roll closed the work of typing the names for the printing of the roll was commenced. The electoral officers are to he congratulated upon the expeditious manner in which the work was carried out.
