BIRTHDAY AT BELMONT
The Red Cross Hall was tilled to overflowing on Tuesday, September 10th. the happy occasion being the 15th birthday of the Belmont Women's Institute. Mrs. Thompson presided, and welcomed members and visitors, including Mrs. H. Paterson, Miss Maddever, and representatives from ten surrounding Institutes. Several lovely birthday posies were presented, and also beautiful corsage sprays to visitors. A presentation was made to Mrs. Lawrence, a valued member, who is leaving the district. Members of the Drama Circle entertained the gathering with a reading of the one-act play "Snowed up with a Duchess." A "Quiz" on general knowledge and observation created interest, as also did a musical competition arranged by Mrs. Sandlant. The best flower in my garden went to Mrs. Benfel; vase of spring flowers, Mrs. Bennett. Miss Hawkins, who is taking a class in "Arts and Crafts," was invited to speak to members.
