Competitive Plans

DEVELOPMENT OF HUTT REQUEST BY RATEPAYERS The Lower Hutt Ratepayers' Association decided at a meeting on Monday night to reiterate its request Jo the City Council that competitive plans be called for the proposed lay-out of the city, covering the civic centre, new shopping areas and transport. The resolution was moved by Mr. N. P. Croft. The president, Mr. C. H. Hain, said that at a recent conference with the City Council Mr. W. Ponder's scheme was discussed. He understood that the Council did not favour throwing open the plans for the lay-out of the city as a whole to public competition, but the Town Planner considered that competitive plans for the architectural aspects of the scheme could be invited.
