PRAMS ON BUSES

STAND BY BUS DRIVERS For some time the bus drivers of the New Zealand Railway Road Services in the- Hutt. Valley have requested women with prams not to travel on buses between the peak hours of 4.30 and 0 p.m., owing to the large number of other passengers travelling at that time. . As the request has not been complied with the drivers have decided not to carry prams between the hours of 4.30 and G p.m. from Mondays to Fridays inclusive. The drivers have also decided not to carry large prams on the buses until the hooks to which the prams are attached are lowered. Up till now the prams have had to be lifted from 5A to G feet to the hooks, and the strain on some of the drivers can be understood.

The restrictions will commence today. The drivers regret the possible inconvenience to a "section of the public, and state that as soon as sufficient buses are available to deal with the number of passengers offering at p.eak times the restrictions will be lifted. Three new buses that arrived recently had to be allotted to the Taita service owing to the big increase in the population of that area.
