Fancy Dress Party

— <?>— GREAT SUCCESS AT MOERA The Moera Hall was the scene of much gaiety when some 80 children, their parents and friends, attended a children’s fancy dress party conducted by the local committee of the N.B. Riley Lower Hutt Free Kindergarten Association to raise funds for the Moera Branch. Games and community singing were enjoyed by all. Mrs. Pearcy acted as pianist. The main feature of the afternoon was the judging of the costumes and the presentation of prizes. Mrs. J. Hogan and Miss Drake acted as judges and later Mrs. Hogan presented the prizes as follows: Under 5 years.—Girls: (Fairy) 1, Elaine and Loraine Sparkes (Nurses) 2. Boys: Barry O’Meara (Health) and Bruce Mulhare (Onions) 1; John Hibbard (Cat) 2; Graham Peterson (Swaggie) 3. Five to seven years.—Girls: June Brewer (Wash Girl) 1; Denise Brewer (Witch) 2; Ann Hibbard (Flower girl) 3. Boys: Robin Lloyd (Sheik) 1; Peter Mulhare (Footballer) 2. .Seven to 10 years.—Girls: Dawn Platts (Archer)) 1; Linette Douche (Skater) 2; Joan Teal (Snowflakes) 3. Boys: Trevor Teal (Big Ben) 1; Brien Kite (Tyrolean) 2; Les. Jigger (Coster) 3.

At the conclusion of the prize-giv-ing Mrs. Burns thanked the judges, the pianist and the parents who had helped to make the function such a success.
