HOCKEY
HUTT VALLEY CLUI! The attendance at the annual meeting of the Hutt Valley Hockey Club augurs well for the coming season. It was large and enthusiastic, and it will probably be necessary to field a minimum of five teams this season. The annual report stated: We feel that the future of hockey in the Valley is one, of vast possibilities which will demand constant attention and the enthusiastic support of all' followers of tiie game in furthering its development, in which this club will be called upon to take its full share. If we can take the past season as a guide to the enthusiasm of members, then the club can face the future with confidence. The election of officers for the 1946 season resulted:—Patron, Mr. 11. G. Teagle; president, Mr. A. G. Smith; vice-presidents, Rt. Hon. W. Nash, tiie Mayor (Mr. J. W. Andrews), Messrs D f . A. Ewen, C. C. Odliti, H. F. Muir, R. A. Marshall, H. V. Marsh, H. F. Stoupe, C. Harvey, W. J. Dredge, F. Thorpe, A. Williams, C. A. Edmeades and C. H. Hain; club captain, V. A. Judd; hon. secretary, L. H. Muir; assistant secretary, P. Sowden; hon. treasurer, P. H. Carey; management committee: J. Ross, E. Muir, I-I. Cocker, A. Gray; delegates to Wellington Hockey Association, L. 11. Muir, E. Muir, W. Shaw, O. Leask; hon. trainer, J, H. Slater; selection committee, R. Lusty, V. A. Judd, J. Ross.
In recognition of 25 years’ service as a player and executive, Mr. J. Ross was unanimously elected a life member of the club.
