SCHOOL GIRLS AT CITY COUNCiL MEETING A £>&rty of secondary school girls were the occupants of the visitors seats at the recent meeting of the Lower Hutt City Council. At the commencement of the proceedings the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Andrews, drew attention to the presence of the young ladies, and said that their attendance at the meeting was for educational purposes in order that they might have an insight as to the manner in which local body business was conducted. On behalf of the Council he extended a cordial welcome to the girls and trusted that as a result of their observations that evening their knowledge of citizenship generally would benefit. At the conclusion of the Council's general business the Mayor invited the girls to remain during the deliberations in committee. All but a few of the young ladies accepted the in-1 vitation. j
