The Stokes Valley Women's Institute held its May meeting in the Lower Hutt Red Cross Hall, Mrs Tay-

The business for the afternoon included the reading of a most comprehensive report by Mrs. Ashton Warner of the proceedings of the Council meeting, and the distribution of /a small quantity of wool to be knitted up for the Fighting French.
The guest artist was Mrs Baker who entertained with three much appreciated songs. Elocutionary items were given by Mrs. R. Wilson. The prize for the best hand-made handkerchief was won by Mrs* Tanner, with Mrs. Burley second. Mrs Beckford Avon the best flower competition. „:■![! ZQ
