TABLE TENNIS
With a record entry of teams the Inter-club matches are now under way and the 1945 season promises to be the most interesting in the Association's history.
Results to date for A Grade, Empire defeated Petone Catholic 28 to 8. The promising colt Jack Knowsley came out with a very fine performance in only losing 1 set and that was to A. Harding. The follow ing B Grade teams have started the season with a win, namely Hahdwickand Burnside. Other results show Y.M.C.A. in the C and D Grades having a draw in both grades. Lever Bros so far have won two matches in the D Grade, Rovers being one of their victims and the other was D.P.L.
The suggestion that clubs play in a uniform has met with good success and a large number of clubs will be seen this season suitably at tired.
The executive have hired the Com munity Hall, Moera, and every Thursday night will be Table Tennis night for the Valley.
Much interest will be taken in representative teams this season as with Jack Knowsley and George Corbett playing again, keen competition; for representative honours will see players on their toes during the Inter Club.
Changes in the ladies representative team are anticipated as with Mrs. Vallc and Mrs Rasmussen not available it will mean that new talent will have to be found. Misa
Mouat of the Alicetown Club has started off the season well, winning all her matches against St. Ronan's and the selectors should give consideration to the claims of this player.
