WOMEN'S CITIZEN GUILD

The aijnual meeting of the above Guild was held on May 7th. The , secretary's report gave a resume of ] the activities of the year, some of . which were suggestions. to the City ; Council in connection with the Ladies' Best-room, most of which . were now in operation; tackling the milk problem; letters to Wellington Hospital Board re the necessity for ' a residential nursery in connection with the Hutt Hospital; domestic help for mothers with young children; and to alleviate hardship in connection with shopping during bad weather; the prams on buses problem. The - Guild delegate agreed with the resolutions of the National Council of Women as placed before the Royal Commission now sitting to enquire into the liquor trade; also that a woman be appointed to that Commission. Officers elected for the year were: President, Mrs. Shearer; secretary, Mrs. Denny; treasurer, Mrs. Evans; vice-presidents, Mrs. Moran and Mrs Peel. The committee was re-elected with the addition of Mrs Goodman, Mrs. Sharp and Mrs. Bish. Mrs, John Hogan gave a most interesting and instructive talk on painless child-birth. This method was in operation in Auckland and should be made available to all women in New Zealand. The secretary appealed to women to study the real causes of war so! that the children of the present gene-1 ration will not be called upon to endure the horrors of another w"ar.
