At the election held last week, four candidates contested three seats Offered as representatives of the Parents' Association on the Board of Governors of the Hutt Valley High School. The three retiring members —Mrs Dennis, Messrs J. S. Hunter and A. E. Spencer—were reflected. , As a result of an arrangement between the State Advances Department and the Hutt City Fire Board, the Department will pay to the Board an annual sum of £4228 being the (equivalent of a premium of £2 per gtate house per year. To date this arrangement covers 2114 State bouses. ■ A Street; Day will be held next Friday for the benefit of the Merchant Navy.
The construction of an artificial ;waterfall on a private property which Black Creek flows, Was the subject of a complaint at the recent meeting of the River Board and after discussion it was decided to order its removal.
