GAS AND POWER BOARDS' SURPLUSES.
i Sir, —Now that both the above [ boards are "prosperous" and have j "satisfactory credit balances,"' may I . suggest tluit the chairmen and meni- , bers give earnest and careiul consideration to the (iuestioii oi return- ; ing to consumers the ten shillings each board demanded before the supply of gas and electricity would be made. Incidentally it would 110 doubt be illuminating to consumers to have a statement of the totiii amounts each board has in these deposit accounts. It is granted that in the early tlays ofi the boards' activities the deposits may have been warranted but now there appears no justification for these charges being continued, and the time is long overdue t'ol readers would be most helpful.—l am etc., LONG DEFERRED.
