RUGBY

RESULTS Senior (First Division) lost to Poneke-Oriental 18-(>. Senior (Second Division) lost to Seatoun Army 2(5-5. Thirds defeated St. Pats College, 21-0. Fourths defeated Training College 14-11. Fifths (Ist) lost to Petone 14-3. Fifths (2nd) defeated Johnsonville 9-8. In a very colourless display of Rugby, Hutt were well beaten by IS points to The visiting forwards took control of the game early, the second spell and out-played the local pack in all departments. The first half was in Hutt's favour but as usual scoring chances were thrown away. The result again proved that the good big forward always beats the good little' forward. The winners played as a pack and every forward kept his head down in the scrums and rucks to get a good sight of the ball. Some of the Hutt forwards were playing too loose a bad fault against a pack of the visitors' calibre. The local backs gave a patchy display but the failure of their forwards to get possession made their task difficult. SECOND DIVISION. This team struck a "hot" side in Seatoun Army but the # Hutt team stuck to them well. The forwards held their own but the Army backs had too much speed. In the Hutt forwards Morehu, McEldowney, Tutaki and Pului showed fine form. It will not be surprising to find some of these being called upon for the senior team in the near future. Reedy gave a very sound display at full back. NOTES in the Fourth grade curtain raiser Potter showed good form in the backs, while Willmott, Garrett and McLeod went well. In the Fifth grade game Tansey and Clout were the best forwards, and Sim the best of the backs. We acknowledge with thanks donations from Messrs F. A. L. Hunt and C. G. Collins. E. Bligh, L. Bligh and Hare suffered injuries on Saturday. There is some doubt about them being able to play this Saturday.
