SCOUTING

Hello, Everybody! Time is flying by and it is already time to prepare for Easter. We would like to'know as soon as possible how many Scouters are going to Tatum Park for the Easter Conference, also what Troops are going camping. The next important event is a Scouters' Camp at Rata Road, Taita, on Saturday and Sunday, 10th and 11th April. Entries close with me on March 31st We hope to make these camps a regular feature of our County activities and so improve our camping standard.

Old Wolves Rock Council meets next Thursday at Ist Lower Hutt Scout Hall.

The Baden-Powell Memorial Fund closes on March 31st. This matter needs urgent attention in some quarters, What about it, Scouts'

In mid-April the Petone E.P.S. organisation is doing a clothes drive and needs, the help of Scouts and Cubs. Should the material collected not be used within a reasonable pei-iod the controllers intend sending parcels overseas to distressed countries.

And now for a spot of local news

A Te Puni Patrol tried a fresh camping ground at Wainui-o-mata last week-end, near the motor camp.

Epuni Troop are making progress under the "old hands" Mr. Barker and Mr. Wellwood. For Scouts so young they are making out very well and all are very keen to get on.

Which reminds me- —there are a number of vacancies for men and women of character and education,j with a real love for our boys, in our local Scout Groups. We want you to help these youngsters. In return you will learn a lot yourseJf of a world of real living and know the joy of (service and the true contentment of work well done. The world has given you much. What will you give the world?
