TRAFFIC UNIT E.P.S. PICNIC.

A most enjoyable day was spent at Maoribank when about 100 members and families of ex-members now serving in the Armed Forces were present. The real purpose of the picnic was to give the women and children a treat and this was done. The sports were held and Charley the Clown had control of the children; he also put on his Punch and Judy Show which was enjoyed by all a the picnic. A great surprise arrived in the afternoon "when Mr Chas. Burridge and Sammy put on a much appreciated turn. The children were exceptionally catered for and they receivd gifts, "apples, sweets, ice-cream and soft drinks. Much credit is due to the picnic committee who worked hard to ensure the success of the outing; the committee comprised Messrs D. Hennie (secrtary), E. R. Pirie, H. Petersen, B. Cross, T. Christophers, R. P. Cother and F. G. Thomas The commiriittee had done everything possible to ensure that the wotnen and children would go home feeling that they had had a really happy outing.
