THE FIGHTING FRENCH SUB-COMMITTEE OF LOWER HUTT PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
A well attended meeting was held last Friday at 10 a.m in the City Council Chambers, the mayoress (Mrs. J. W. Andrews), presiding, for the purpose of soliciting the ak. of ladies willing to knit and provide comforts for the Fighting French Forces.. Representatives from the Lower Hutt Spinning Circle, W.D.F.U, Townwomen's Guilds, League of Mothers, Lower Hutt Croquet Club. Waimarie Croquet Club, Stokes Valley (Women's Institute, Lower Hutt Red Cross, the Navy League, Missions to Seamen, etc., were present, I all of whom were formed into a i committee. An executive committee was elected, consisting of Mrs. J. W. Andrews (president), Madame J. de Filippi and Mrs. C. W. Clark joint secretaries, Mesdames H. B. Gordon and Mcßae, Misses C. Kennedy and V. Kettle. Wool from the Patriotic Society will be issued free to those willing to knit. The Waimarie Croquet Club rooms are to be used a a the Lower Hutt depot, and the Missions to Seamen lnstiute, Stout Street, will be used as the Wellington depot Mider thftteAJKre of the Rev.
