River Board
The monthly meeting of the lluti RiMT hoard was heid last Wednesday afternoon. The new chairman. 3.1 F. S. Hewer. presided and thanked lite Hoard for the honour they had done hiiu in electi ng him to Iho position. The annual baiame .shoot was returned front the Audit Dept. without tiiti" or comment. and was authorised by the Hoard lor printing. Tiie chairman and members of Iho Hoard eongrat ulaled the clerk and his stall' on ! iie~ satisfactory s!ate of the balance sheet. The Hoard approved ils .estimates as presented by the special committee and decided to leave this years rates the same as last year. The secretary. Mr. A. J. Gearing, outlined the sound financial position of the Hoard. and staled that m February, J!l!5, I lie board would ha\ e wiped out it;; eni ire loan indebtedness. l! would be safe policy not to attempt, further rate reductions until then. The board bad in reserve a fund to carry out. the wort; of straightening the river at Moiling but it was quite possible that, when the work was done the cost, would be greater than was now estimated.
