Committees have been set up and arrangements are well in hand for St. James's annual garden party, which will be held In Mre. V. Riddlford's grounds, "Woburn," on Saturday, 14th February, 1942. In an article on Riddiford Park which appeared in last week's paper, it was stated that the equipment in the children's playground was donated by Mr. Chapman. This Is not so. Mr. D. A. Ewen was the donor, and the work of erecting the playground was done by Mr. Chapman, who also planned the lay-out of the park. i Miss Eva Draper's weekly Saturday night dance should attract a bigger crowd than ever this week, as th& staff of the Lower Hutt Post Office is co-operating with her in order to raise funds for the relief of English Post Office workers and their dependants who have suffered through air raids. An advertisement appears in this issue. Prices will be as usual. Riddiford Baths opened for the season on Saturday last, and, with the onset of the warmer weather, it is anticipated that swimming lovers will avail themselves of the excellent facilities provided for them to Indulge in this health-giving and refreshing sport. An advertisement giving the time-table and "the scale of charges for season tickets appears in this issiue. Owing to the black-out restrictions young people will have to forego the old traditions of Guy Fawkes Day this year. By advertisement in this issue the Chief Warden advises that no fires or fireworks will be permitted on sth November or on any other date. The newly formed Mothers' Club of the central branch of the Lower Hutt Plunket Society is holding a bring and buy afternoon in the Central Rooms, Riddiford Park, on Friday, October 31st. Cakes, produce, etc., will be on sale, commencing at 2 p.m.
