HUTT POWER BOARD I The fact that the Hutt Valley . Electric Power Board had passed the 15,000 mark in regard to consumers was brought to the notice of the board at last week's meeting by the general manager, Mr, E. F. j Hollands. There a*e now 15,039 insallations in the board's area, including 3609 ranges and 3861 water heaters. The connected load is 74,628 kilowatts. During October 105 new installations were connected, and 114 additions to existing installations were made. Comparisons of power sales from April 1 to October 31, with sales for* the correspond- , ing period of last year, are as follows: Availability rate, £42,306 • (39,723); commercial lighting, £10,796 (£10,154); water heating, £11,528 (£8774); power, £27,35s (£23,576); public lighting, £2615 (£2630); total, less discount, £86,654 (£77,974). "It is, to use Mr. Hollands's term, very much a 'growing concern,' " said the chairman, Mr. G. London. "I have been round the new work with Mr. Hollands, and can say that it reflects great credit on the linesmen. We are using a very good class of pole now, and there should be years of service in the construction going on."
