Parents and supporters, of the Waiwhetu School are reminded of a children's fancy dress party to be held at the school on Saturday afternoon next. The proceeds from this function are to be devoted to the school funds for the purchase of sports equipment, etc., and an enjoyable afternoon is assured for both parents and children. A special service is being held at St. Jamess Church next Sunday afternoon, when the choir of St. Michael and All Angels Church, Kelburn, will combine with St. James's Choir. Special music will form part of the service, and special anthems will be rendered. The preacher will be the Rev. Canon D. B. Malcolm, who has been appointed secretary and treasurer of the Church of England Military Affairs Fund. There are to be retiring collections at all services next Sunday for this fund. j The Hutt Valley Horticultural Society's summer show, which win jbe held on Wednesday next, 15th j instant, will be opened by the Ccn-sul-General for France, M. A. Pouquet. At the big jumble sale ueing held in Knox Church Hall, High Stree 1 ., this Saturday, at iJ.3O p.m., a wide assortment of clothing, etc., also various sundries, including a wireless set, will be sold at. exceedingly low prices. It is a rule of Knox jumble sales that no goods are carried over from previous sales, therefore an entirely fresh supply ot oargains will again be available for early buyers. Miss Billie Stevens is now conducting a children's class in tapdancing at St. Paul's Sunday School, White's Line East, on Thursdays at 4 p.m. Miss Stevens will interview parents from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. At last week's meeting of the Hutt Valley Power Board, the chairman, Mr. Geo. London, took strong objection to the repeated absence of one oi the members. He said it was not fair to deprive electors of their just representation. The meeting was an extremely important one, and it was due to the chair that an apology should have been tendered. Absence without leave for four consecutive meetings automatically deprives a member of his seat. Messrs. Liebezeit wish to announce that inadvertently the prices for cutlery were misquoted in last week's advertisement. The correct prices appear in this issue.
