JAMES McDOUGALL

Widespread regret will be felt by a large circle of friends at the news of the death of Mr. James Alexander MoDougall, of Bellcvuc Road,< who died in hospistal recently after a prolonged illness.

Born at Dunedin in 1807 the late Mr McDougall entered the engineering trade and was, up to the time of his retirement on superannuation a few years ago, an engineer-litter in • the Railway Workshops at Woburn. As a tradesman he had few equals and was recognised for his skill *uid meticulous exactness in specially fine work. He had considerable inventive ability and one of his most value J inventions was an appliance for simplifying litting methods which was adopted by the liailway Department who recognized his ability in a practical manner. After his retirement, Mr McDougall sought fOT an avenue of enployment that would provide scope for his particular training and was appointed official bowl tester for the Wellington Bowling Centre,, a position he filled with remarkable satisfaction to all those who consulted him As an active bowler he was for many yeaTS and up to the time of his death a member of the Huitt Club where he won the respect and admiration of all its members both for his outstanding personality and! his skill at the ancient game. Mr McDougall is survived by his widow who will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in her grca-. bereavomemt.
