League of Mothers
LOWEa.HU3XBaAN(OH. i . . The annual, meeting of- the' Lower Hutt Branch of the League, of Mothers attracted a large attendance oij members and friends. The platform was beautifully decorated with spring flowers and shrubs. Mrs. CharleswOrth presided and extended a welcomc to representatives from the Mocra Branch, also to Mrs. W. Burgess who has recently returned from England. Members were notified that 'September meeting would l ;be held cm the third Thursday, and that in future years the combined meeting of husbands and wives \tould be held in October. A comprehensive report of the work done during, the year was presented by the secretary, and Mrs. Lowe congratulated the branch on its growth and development. Theitreasurer's report and balance sheet revealed a very satisfactory financial position. Mrs. J. W. Andrews, vice-president, occupied' the chair during the election of officers. Mrs. Charlesworth, nominated by Mrs. W. Hall, was unanimously .re-elected' as president, and Mes dames Lowe,-H. D. Bennett, Jarman and J. W. Andrews re-elected as vicepresidents. Mesdames Balls, Pegler, Licbezeit and B&tchelor were elected,to fill the vacancies on the working committee. The retiring secretary, Mrs E. T. Alderslcy, was presented . with a dainty posy. Following afternoon 'tea the choir, conducted by Mrs. Barron, presented an enjoyable . anidi much appreciated programme of part songs, interspersed with solos by Mesdames Potter and Robson and a trio by Mesdames IParkes, Potter and Taylor. Two duets in character by Mesdames Liebezeit and McCallum caused much fun and merrimeht, and Mrs. Lowe gave much pleasure by contributing two humorous recitations. Mrs. Charlesworth conveyed to the choir the sincere thanks of the membership for the splendid entertainment pro, vided and presented* Mrs Barron with a beautiful posy. Miss Finla'y, the accompanist, also received a tribute of flowers. The meeting terminated with the sing ing of the National Anthem.
