ALICETOWN WOMEN'S CLUB
MEETING. The September meeting of the Alicetown Women's Club was held recently, Miss Duncan vice-president occupying the chair. An ably contented debate '"The Child ,of the Victorian Era versus The Modern Child" was well received the latter carrying off the lu.-n ours by a good' majority. Those taking part were Mesdames Shawl Henry, TLongJiurst and McJTicol. Mrs. Bait gave much pleasure with her rendering of two charming solos "Mountain
Lovers' 'and "My Prayer." A demon • >stration on the making of "sweet posies" was given by Mrs. Summers, and was followed with keen interest by the members. Both these ladies redainty posies. A competition Which aimed at bringing the members I more into contact proved very successful, the winner being Mrs. Evans. Mrs Sutton was the winner of the guessing
competition. The Singing Circle eontributed two numbers, "Spring's Awakening" and "Plantation Medley", both of which wore much enjoyed. A Jiearty vote of thanks was accorded to all who had contributed to an excellent programme. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and the sing-'"-ing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
