ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

PETONE DIVISION .... The monthly meeting of the Pctono Division was held in the ambulance room, Petone Bee., on Monday May 7. Notwithstanding the inclement weather there was a fair attendance. The divisional officer, Mr Black presided. Officer Zambra who has been acting secretary filled that most important job at this meeting in a very efficient manner. 1 • The question of duties was discussed and great satisfaction expressed at the very able and efficient assistance given by the boys of the Ist Petone Company Boys' Brigade. These boy* who are holders of the Boys' Brigade .First Aid certificate, are answering the call in a way that reflects credit on their captain, their company, their instructor and on themslves.

The fact that the secretary, Sergt. Collin having been transferred from Petone, made it necessary to elect a new one. Pte.-Henry was elected and a vote of thanks given to Officer Zambra for the manner in which he had carried out the duties of seeretaiy since the departure of Sergt Collin.

A fairly representative number of the members have arranged to go to headquarters, Wellington this Thursday, 10th inst to a Corps parade. It may interest the readers to know that b. very interesting series of lectures are given by prominent medical practitioners periodically and that this, coupled with the divisional training and actual practical work on the various sports fields, is gradually bringing \ the St. John Ambulance men up to I a high state of efficiency. 1

Tho Division takes this opportunity of thanking the Petono Borough Council and all other public bodies for assistance given and sinccrely trust that the work will continue to maintain a standard that will justify the assistance so generously given. Referees are asked to note that If ambulance assistance is wanted, give tliree blasts of your whistle, the Division will do the rest. Befcrccs might also mention this reminder to brother referees.
