BOY EMPLOYMENT

' ' PROBLEM IN HUTT .VALLEY It is reported by tlxo secretary of the Wellington Boy Employment Committee, Mr L. J, Greenberg, that dur-, ing the month of March, 120 boys were placed in employment, all of whom, excepting 17, were in the city. There were 98 new registrations, leaving a total of 336 awaiting employment, 50 per cent of which consists of youths from 18 to 20 years of age. There are indications of an improvement in tho demand for boys on farms , and the committeo would bo pleased to t hear from boys who aro sseking suitabl placement in the country. >

The committee has been giving sperial attention to unemployed boys rc- ;. siding in the Hutt .Valley district. It has been found that these boys have been under a distinct disadvantage be- i cause of the distance they have to travel to tho city and the expense involved. A special appeal is being made for employers to consider Hutt .Valley boya and in the meantime, Mr. Greenberg reports tho committeo has had a representative visiting the Hutt and Petone districts, looking up tho boys ill their homes and calling on local employers.
