HARRIERS.

. * HUTT VALLEY CLUB. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, 17 rTunners accepted the invitation of Mr V. Smith, Pilmuir on Saturday for the above club's weekly run. The runners were divided into three packs—slow, intermediate and fast—with the former receiving a start of five minutes from the middle pack. Trail-layer C. King selected a splendid course of about six miles over very favourable country for fast work which led from Pilmuir St., through the Golf Links along the river bank as far as the Avalou Tea Kooms, then crossed the main road and through the Taita football grounds, then down Waiwetu Ivoad as far as Nai Nai Lane and across the paddocks back to Pilmuir Street. The slow pack maintained their handicap and the two other packs came in together. Plenty of hot water was available for a bath which was much appreciated, as was the splendid afternoon tea provided by Mr Smith, ably assisted by Miss Gr. Clarke. The club captain, Mr It. Kent, on behalf of the club, thanked Mr Smith for the hospitality extended, to which Mr Smith replied NOTES. la view of the near approach of the | novice race, it is pleasing to see the young runners attending these runs, and sonic of them showing such good form, the handicappers' job is going to be a very "difficult one. Owing to the Trots being held ou , the 19th, the Novice Eace has been ' postponed until the following Saturday. It was very pleasing to see Vic Smith out again on Saturday; his services are too valuable to lose. The .Sanders Cup fixture with the Mas tcrton Club will be held on June 10th at Masterton. N. Price and M. Patterson made a welcome reappearance on Saturday, their services will be of great assistance to the club in the inter-club events. If Roy Kent can retain his form he should play a prominent part ing the big events to be held later in the season. Subscriptions are now due, and same must be paid before runners can com 1 pete in any races.

C.Y.M. CLUB. At the invitation of Mrs Smith, 77 Totara Crescent, the CA.M. club was able to enjoy an excellent run on Saturday last. The line day brought out a total of 23 runners and three packs were sent off to follow the trail laid by H. Thorns and J. Cooper, which led through Nai Nai to Taita, and back through the Orphanage grounds and the foot of the-hills to Burnside. A short run iu was held from Waterloo Station. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess, and the deputy captain briefly expressed the thanks of the club which tress may obtain receipt from any mem bers in a manner more enthusiastic than musical. Next week a novice race will be held from the rcskleuce of Mrs Smith, Ngaio Street.
