METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
The choir of the Lower Hutt Methodist Church, is weQl known for its musical activities and it would seem that t>h.e boys and girls are following the example of their elderß. Much, interest lia^ heen evinced thrauighot.t -the diet'riet by the announcement that Mr! Ernest Daiwson hast undertaken the' training of a special children's choir 1 3x>r the eeleforation in connection with, the 91st anniversary of y&e Metthodist; Sunday School. The services commence ■at 11 a.m,in the King George Theatre, on Sunday next, November 30th, and ■•■will be continued in tie afternoon at 3 o'clock and in the evening at 7. Rev. j. C. Loan (Petone, Preslbyterian) Rev. MciDwNrell (E^iibirnie, Mathoddst), 1 and Eev. Harold Sharp (Longer Hutt, .Methodist) are the prea oners for the day. The music ii'as been chosen with, a particular regard to modern needs and' conditions. There is an entire absence of the. usual marches and militant , y hymns with, which anniversary music abounds. The ideal of the world today is one of .peace. We have seen enough, of war—its horrors and barbarism; its Mdeousnesa and utter futility—and every sane-chinking^ person at t&.e present time is advoeatintg peace —not the dull, phlegim&tie aeeepfcaiMie ■of life which some people imagine peace' to be, but a peace that will use all toiaii's courage and talents and energies for the building up of the himtvatn race instead of its de^srtatiction. Peacfe, then, is the keynote of tie music—peace and "beauty and a spirit of dovotipn. T^e pbe'ms are exquasito thki^s and their fiettittgs perfectly matelied. Sir *To>h!n 'Steinter coiiipoljed the music for Mary %.. S>usa«aii*s "Evening; JPnayer,' 7 J"» H. aSa>niider for * * Flowers ircfrn. His Own dar3en,»' (ft. &t. fel Bourne), A. M. I OdpcihaTi; for «*ln, pa.c Silent Mid- | *n%lit >J (A. C. Benson) and Sir G^e^i^e Elvey for Stev. !B6urne's hyimn of thanksgiving. . The training wnlch a child reieeives |in Sunday School is of imcalcutetole | benefit in after years. Therefore we appeal to all parents ,and lovers of maisic to attend this anniverflaTy festi- y i Vsl and by iheir presence and contri: bution to funds thus encourage the school in the very fine work which it is doing. ; ~
