LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The regular meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held on Moo day evening, there bedng present the Mayor (Sir Alex. .Roberts), and CiS. D. S. Patrick, J. B. Boyd, F. Campbell, J. Mitchell aud A. Grierson. ■Before taking the formal business the Mayor, made feeling reference to the death of Mrs. W. T. Strand whom he said, had been one of the best during her life in the borough. Mrs Strand had worked very hard da-ring lier term ,as mayoress and had won the adiniratjon of everyone. He moved, a motion .of sympathy which was carried in silence. The Mayor also made reference to t)ie unfortunate accident which bad overtaken Superintendent Slinn and Fireman Hutton. He was pleased to •report that they were. .both .making vexy^ satisfaictory progress and moved ithat'ia motion of synipathy 'be recorded .with., the hope of- iflicir speedy ree-avery. Mayor moved Arhdeacon Hansell be than&d for his invitation and asked that as many councillors and their wives as possible would accompany Mm to the service.
