PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS DANCE.
The plain and fan<jy dress . dance -which took place in t«le Scouts' Hall on Saturday night was in aid of the Scouts' Building Fund. Dancing was indulged in in the main hall and those ,who wished, played "500" in the adjoining .room. There was a large number there and the function was a very jolly one. -Mrs. Nicholls, Mr. Peek and •Mr. Winnie composed the orchestra and Mr. B. I>. Smith was the M.C. The Social Committee was as follows:— Mesdames Westibury, Barber, < Wilkie, Mair, Peck, Saville, Bayly, Cavaye, and Messrs McKenzie, Hayton, G. •Clark and R. Smith. Mrs Hoggard and Mrs Caldiwcll judged the costumes and awarded the following prizes: Best home-made costume, "Balloon," (Miss L. Mair); gentlemen, "Irishmen," (Mr 3. Mair); most' "original costume "Safety First," (Miss Hollands); beat poster, "No More Strikes/ (Miss E. Willis). Others present "were Miss Soutley* Canary crepe-de-ehene; Miss Mills, pale blue orepe-deehene; . Miss Davis, blue taffeta; Miss Barnard, saxe blue georgette; Miss Hunter, cream crepe-de-eihene; Miss George, ping georgette; Miss Hayton, "Harem Girl,"; Miss M. Hayton, brown silk; Miss Parsdnson, "Cheap Railway Fares"; Miss Gordon, flame crepe-de-chene; Miss O. Gordon, black crepe-de-chene; Miss Westbury "Harem Costume"; Miss D. Hunter, cream crepe-de-chene; Mrs, Bayly, sare blue satin; Miss Stevens, pink georgette; Miss Saville, parchment lace; Miss E. GardineT, lemon crepe-de-chene; Miss X»omhourn, green georgette and lace; Mts W. flame erepe-de-esiene; Miss L&mibourne, pink silk rayon; Miss B. Newell, vieux rose georgette; Miss N.
