GAS BOARD
A meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt" Gas Lighting Board was held on 9th 'instant. There were present Mr. W. G. Lodder (chairman), and Messrs W. T. Strand, S. Clendori, W. G. Meldrum, C. P. Broekelbank, P. Truscott and E. T. Hogg. ;::„■■ The Gas Manager (Mr H. Appleyard) ' reported that during the month 720 tons of coal was carbonised, 10,230,000 cubic ' feet of gas manufactured with an average make per ton of ( 14,208 cubic feet, an increased manufacture over August, 1929 of 631,000 cubic feet. Estimates of i coal ancj coke in stock on September 1, 1008 tons, 14ewt, 3qurs and 8 tons rej spectively. During the month 168 tons, i 14cwt, 2qrs of coke and 11.250 gallons of tar were sold. During the period 40 new services 28 cookers, 10 combination cookers, one caliphont, 16 coppers ,one hotplate, one gas fire, 46 new meters were installed, 75 meters changed and 43 meters repaired at works.
