COMBINED SPRING FLOWER SHOW.
The 1930 Spring Flower Show of the Hutt Valley HoTtieultural Society will be held next Wednesday anil Thursday 17th and liSth Septdniibcr, in King George Theatre, and will include the National Daffodil Society's North Island Display; also the North Island Amateur DnfTodil Championship, ilor A\ rhich a i^old modal is a-warded. The official opening ceremony will be performed ]>y Hoji, Sir. E.'Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C.;, 'president of tCie National Daffodil Society, at 2.3t) p.m. The sjpring blooms are showing up very well in the gardens and with entries in the National Daffodil Sections from all parts of: New Zealand, gives every promise of the finest display of spring flowers seen in the Dominion. In the National Suction there are some valuaible trbphies to. be competed for including the "British Baisers' Challenge Gold Cup, valued at 75 guineas In the H.V.H.S opfta classes the Society offer a trophy for most points •gained in Sections 1 to 19. ' A certificate Aviil' be. .awarded for the ( best Trumpet and Non-Trumpet. In the Seedling .Classes there is a j paints, prirte and a trophy for the) champion seedling. The sections in this.] class should be 25a to 32a. . j In the Amateur .Sections there is a j Champion Bloom trophy, Tradesmen's j trophy and the North Island Championship gold medal. In the past the Decorative Section Iras- not 'had sufficient space to do it , justice, and arrangements have been . made to use both halls for .staging pur- , poses and. an artistic tea room mid^r the gallery. , There are two continuous trophies with points prizes- for the year. Mrs. H. W. Korsley 's rose bowl for the DecoTative Sections and Mrs. E. L. Eiddiford's silver cup for Collcction^of Out Flowers. . The Ladies Committee are arranging to provide a dainty afternoon tea, sweet stall and a flower stall. Donations of cu-t flowers aiid plants are invited, as visitors to the Hutt Shows •leligh't in securing a bunch, of "blooms. ! Tlhe Show; will be open continuously each day from, 2 p.m to 10 p.m. I The presentation of trophies and prizes will take place at 9 p.m on Tliursday, 18th, which, will be followed by the sale of blooms. Exhibitors are reminded that entries close on Monday,. 15th inst at 5 p.m." Exhibitors requiring space for Trade Displays and for Exhibition Only, are invited to apply early, stating spiaee required. -
