A SPRING FETE.

' A Spring Fete was held on Saturday afternoon, in. the Epuni School. Anglican Epuni Sunday School. As the attendance isso rapidly increasing this step is a most necessary one, and deserving of every support. The programing which, vv.as a, yer^r varied one, was as follows: An Old 'Engiis&*J)ahee//by members of M'is^s Porter's Sunday School class; These young peopie also cbntTrbuteGL a playette '' Good King Wicnceslas,'' a song, "If a Body is Tired of Lessons," a chorus "John Srown.'s Baby," aid a .Maori sbiig, ' '.Haki Haki." Five small persons from the kindergarten in costume then took part in a play '' Bed Killing Hood.'' Thea Smith was next in a ■* recitation, entitled "Washing Day, "after avliu-1i Molly Cadmah sang. '/The Brook" \Vas recited by Jean Gowor, and Margaret Dallison sang "Mother's Little Maid." An orchestra coni'posod of boys from St. James ?s Bible Class also contributed some lively eone'ert/ed music, their items being ■'' Baiby 's Sweetheart,"\ J 'Sons of Liberty,'' ■' '' Gallant and;- J&ay,'' '' In £!airo,"i: and ''College Me'mbi*ics." ' Afternboh tea was served in :one classroom and the concert took plaoe in the other, the stage being tastefully decorated with, foliage. In the vestibule was a well-laden producie stall, in Miss Meek's charge) and also a sale of jumble goods, where Mrs Gilbert, assisted, by Mrs Swain/presided. A novel entertainer from Wellington, Mr. Chun Tai, a Chinese magician, was mofct popular, his performances being greeted with great enthusiasm. A dance was held in the school room in the evening and there was also a small programme. Mr clum Tai again worked his magic. Miss Worry contributed a mt/sical monologue and Molly Cadman recited. .Jamiesoii/s Orchestra was in attendance and Mr. House, as M.U., saw that everything went with a swing. ' It is hoped "that as a result of this effort, the greater ..part of the £40 which is necessary for the enlargement of the Sunday School will be realised, but if any who/wGTe unable to be present on Saturday care to contribute to this most worthy causey their contribution will be most gratefully received.
