WARWICKSHIRE'S POOR START.

AUSTRALIANS IN FRISKY MOOD (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) ■Received Thursday, 12.15 a.m. LONDON, July 13. After a week's idleness the Australians frisked gaily on' to the sunny Edgbaston field for the match against Warwickshire. There was some sur prise when Bradmau \>>on the toss from Cranmer and sent in Warwickshire, for there had been little rain ana the wicket had been covered and played slowly.

The teams were:— Warwickshire: Cranmer, Croom, Thompson, Santall, Dollery, Old, Buckiiiham, Paine, Wilmot, Mayer, Hollies. Australia: Fingieton, Brown, Bradman, McCabe, Chipperlield, McConnick, Ward, Waite, O'Reilly, Wallcer. The twelfth man is Fleetwood-Smith.

Barnes kept wickets for the first time on the tour. In Waite's second over Croom was out from a snick to first slip. Thompson played over-late to an in-swinger and his middle gtump was rooted. Santall swung AVaite hard to leg and (he ball struck Fingieton on the head. He retired hurt. Santall and Dollery took the score to 48, when Santall snicked O'Reilly from a leg-break and was caught at first-slip. Fingieton was struck on the head by a ball and had to retire. Dollery and Ord scored brightly and raised 100 in 125 .minutes. Ward was belatedly called on at 137 and immediately had the bntsmen in trouble. Ord was out after a fine innings, which included even boundaries. The "tail-enders" were quickly dismissed, and the innings ended after 200 minutes.

Bradman and Brown, apparently wanting practise, batted quietly ami4. ironical applause, and the cry, "This isn't a test match!" was heard when Brown, after I'os minutes, reached 28. After 5.30, however, the batsmen opened out and Bradman readied his century in 135 minutes.
