YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB.
TOUR POSTPONED. Tlie recent floods in the Hawke's Bay area have caused the postponement of’ the ISOO mile educational tour of the North Island being undertaken by over a hundred Young Farmers’ Club members affiliated to the Manawatu Young Farmers’ Clubs’ District Committee. Actually the postponement of the trip for a fortnight may prove very acceptable to numbers of young farmers who were previously unable to travel owing to seasonal farm work. The tour, which was to have started on May 17th, is now set down to commence bn Tuesday, 31st May. The original itinerary is being adhered to, that is, buses will leave Wellington for Palmerston North and will pick up members of the party ei. route. The main body will assemble at the Palmerston North Showgrounds and leave for Hastings, the same day. From Hastings the party, which is believed to be the largest farmers’ excursion yet undertaken in New Zealand, will visit Wairoa, Gisborne, Whakatane, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupe, Chateau Tongarii'o and will return to Palmerston North and Wellington on Sunday, June 12th. This is just four days prior to the big Young Farmers’ Ciub day to be held at the Manawatu Winter Show on Thursday, June 26th.
A remarkable feature of the tour is the fact that transport, accommodation and meals will cost each member ths comparatively sfall sum of .‘5 1.35. Mr. K. W. Barnett, of llalcombe, will be the leader and will have with him Mr. G. S. Robinson, of the Department of Agriculture, Palmerston Xvth, as secretary, and Mr. J. B, Chrystall, of Kairanga, as treasurer.
Any Young Farmers’ Club members affected by the postponement are requested to communicate immediately with the District Young Farmers’ Club secretary, -«c/o Department of Agriculture, Box 112, Palmerston North.
