HIGH STANDARD OF PLAY (By Telegraph—Press Association! HASTINGS, Last Night. Play in ttie opening matches of the Hawke’s Bay Polo Club’s annual Yankee tournament attained a high standard to-day. There was keen competition and most of the games were closely contested and several were fully up to New Zealand tournament stan dard. The results were as follow (handicaps in brackets): — Senior: Hawke’s Bay (scr) 0 lost to Poverty Bay (10) 10; Rangitikei (G) G lost to Waipawa (10) 13; Masterton A (G) S lost to Poverty Bay A (3) 12; Hawke’s Bay (scr) G beat Wallingford (3) 3. Junior: Hastings (scr) 8 beat Atua (4) 7; Taihape A (4) .12 drew with Tab hape B (12) 12; Waimarama (12) 12 lost to Masterton B (10) 20.
