HARVEST FESTIVAL.

METHODIST CONCERT AND SALE. (

| Despite the inclemency of the |weather, there was a good attendance at the Century Hall last evening for the St. John’s Methodist Church Harvest Festival concert and sale. The evening commenced with the singing of “Old Hundredth” and a prayer, after which there followed a short concert programme. * The first contributors were the St. I John’s choir, who were heard in a bracket of two numbers, “Sweet Is the I Work” to the tune “Deep Harmony,” jand “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” ; an old English folk tune. Then followjed Miss Beretti with the recitation. | “A Welsh Classic,” which on being recalled she responded with “Scandle. ” (A youthful performer, Miss Barbara Mew, was next heard in the number, “Wilhelm ina,” and as an encore she gave “The General’s Fast Asleep,” followed by Miss Joyce Allen in the recitation “The Petrified Fern,” and as am encore “The Servants’ ' Prayer.” A popular vocalist, Mr. P. H. Baumber, whose contribution, “The Cannonale,” iccoived an insistent encore, replied to with “Weeds,” by McGeock, Then followed Miss Win. Eeed with the recitation “Billy,” and as a response to her encore “Tui,” by Eileen Duggan. Then Mrs. Nye, whose original recitations are always bound to meet with approval, followed “A Swagger’s Soliloquey, ’ ’ with ‘ ‘ Aren’t Men Funny, ’ ’ The accompanists were Mrs. Mew, Mr. B. E. Burdan, and Mr. G. H. Sorensen. Eev. Mr. Dennis was chairman.

Then commenced the main business of the evening—that of the disposal of the goods -which were on display* Mr. L. R. Spencer made an able auctioneer and with an efficient band of helpers a quick clearance was made to the mutual advantage of both buyers and seller.
