, The death occurred early this morning of Mr, R, Waring-Taylor, of “Wyke,” Shannon, chairman for many years of the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd.

Miss K. P. Coles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 11. S. Coles, of Gladstone Road, has been successful in passing her final examination in the Women’s Hospital, Swanston Street, Melbourne. Miss Coles commenced her nursing at the Palmerston North Hospital.

Because he is leaving shortly to take up his residence in the South Island, Mr. J, S. Dawes has tendered his resignation as president of the Auckland Provincial Employers’ Association and at a meeting of the executive committee, Mr. J. A. C. As in consequence of his appointment by His Majesty tiie King as chairman of the Royal Commission to consider and report upon the possibility of amalgamation, or closer political and administrative association, between Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland, Viscount Bledisloe will be absent from England for live months from the end of April and letters will be forwarded to him in Africa, he expresses the hope that New Zealanders desiring to correspond with him will defer doing so until the end of August.

At the Palmerston North Hospital ' Board meeting yesterday, information was received that Dr. P. T. Putnam was not re-applying for a position on the honorary staff and that Mr. D'. S. Wylie also did not seek re-appointment. The board unanimously decided to place on record its sincere appreciation of the very valuable public service these gentlemen had rendered the Palmerston North hospital as tnembers of the honorary medical staff. Dr. Putmam for thirty years had been closely associated with the hospital and his as a member of the honorary staff as senior surgeon had been unique. Mr. D. S. Wylie had been on the honorary staff since 1924. Th e board decided at an early opportunity to meet these two gentlemen and express personal appreciation of their work. It

was also decided to invite both to accept positions as honorary consulting surgeons so that their services would .not be lost to the Palmerston North hospital. ■,
