REDUCED STEEL DUTIES EXPIRE
DECISION AGAINST RENEWAL (British Official Wireless.) Received Friday, 7 p.m. RUGBY, March 17. The period for which reduced rates of Customs duties on certain iron and I steel products were established as a temporary measure expires on March 31. The Import Duties Advisory Committee does not propose to recommend continuance of the reduced rates after that date. The present scale of steel duties is 24 per cent, on licensed imports from cartel countries and 124 per cent, on steel from other countries. The original iron and steel duties were 33 1-3 per cent.
