England defeated Australia at Soccer by 4 goals to nil. ■ Twentydive thousand people witnessed the match and the gale receipts amounted ,te £I7OO. England were clearly- superior, scoring two goals in the first eleven minutes and they le.d at half-time by this margin. The play of the English backs was too much for the Australian attack, the forwards being unable to make an impression. England played grand football and won very easily. (Showery weather restricted the attendance. The ground was dead and slippery, but this was not responsible for Australia’s eclipse. For England goals were scored by Mathew-s (2), Eastham and Pinch.
