MANAKAU NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.^ The opening of.- the Manakau Badminton Club took place on Thursday night last, there being a large numbei of players End onlookers present, ’ including members of the Levin and Regent Clubs. A very enjoyable evening was spent in badminton and pingpong. After a most excellent supper, served by the local club members, Mr. F. Moidge, as a vice-president of the clubj' welcomed the visitors and formally declared the court open. The President, Mrs. Stanley, then took the opportunity of presenting a small gift to Mr. and Mrs. W. Swainson, who had been but recently wedded. Mr. G. France expressed the pleasure of the Levin visitors at the hospitality extended them.

Eui Mai ’s points came from a penalty from j. Davis, and a try by ,A. Qook, converted by Davis. A penalty by Galyer accounted for Athletic’s points. Mr P. McLeavey gave a good exhibition as referee. Mrs. Harvey and her small daughter, of Wellington, are visitors to “Sedgemoor, ’ ’ Manakau. , : , ; Mrs. EL. Tntbury and daughter, "of Eiwaka, are the;,guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.
