WORLD OIL SUPPLIES.
ONE GIGANTIC SCRAMBLE. MOKE APLOAT THAN EVER BEPORB. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 3. Mr. Hector Bywater, in the Daily Telegraph, says that the quantity of oil now being transported by sea is probably the greatest in history. Most non-producing nations . appear to be building up the largest possible reserves against contingencies. Britasin normally imports over 9,000,000 tons of oil products annually, but volume has recently substantially increased. Prance, Italy, Japan and Germany are all clamouring for supplies, and the world-wide demand is throwing a strain on the international tanker fleet. A shortage of transport is threatened and freights have risen sharply, which will probably mean that oil products will rise in price.
