RUGBY LEAGUE TEST.
ENGLAND NARROWLY BEATS NEW ZEALAND. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. In a hard and rugged game of Rugby League, England defeated New Zealand at Carlaw Park yesterday by 10 points to eight. England scored two tries and two penalty goals to New Zealand’s three penalty goals and a field goal. The weather was dud though lino and the attendance was 22,000. The feature of the match was the splendid showing by the home forwards, who overshadowed their opponents with the exception of scrummaging. New Zealand missed great opportunities through lack of finish. The outstanding players for England •were Jenkins and Belshaw, the fullback, for the work of both these placers was tipped with brilliance. Pmkrang played a great game for New Zealand in the forwards. He mi disappointed at full-back and w r as right oil - in kicking.
