PLANS COMPLETED.

BETTER CONDITIONS FOB FARM LABOUR. '• WAITING FOR GUARANTEED PRICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Arrangements for improved conditions for the employment of labour on farms have been completed, but the Minister of Labour (Hon. H. T. Armstrong), who has had several conferences with representatives of farmers' organisations on the subject, stated today that no announcement dealing with it would be made till the Government had announced the guaranteed price which it proposed to pay for dairy produce. The rates of pay for farm labour were contingent on the amount the farmer would receive for his dairy produce, and consequently the completion of the farm labour plans was held up in the meantime.

Discussing the labour market generally, Mr. Armstrong said he estimated that when the Government's public works programme was in full swing there was likely to be a scarcity of labour for certain classes of work. The scheme for the employment of labour on farms, he pointed out, would make that class of work much more attractive than it had been in the past. Interviewed to-day, the Prime Minister (Rt, Hon. AI. J. Savage) stated that an announcement as to what the guaranteed price would he would be made soon, but he added that the Government was not desirous of making the announcement till it was obliged to do so in view of the possibility of advantage being taken of any intimation.
