Airs .1. D. AlcArthur, of Timaru, is at present a visitor to Levin, being the guest of Airs Pi rani, Quecnwood Road. Airs AlcArthur is a former resident of Levin.

The wedding took place at Sandwich England, recently of Aliss Zoe Pearson daughter of Lady "Pearson, and Air Stephen A’illiers Appleby, who was the first Englishman to build a Flying Flea and fly it across the English Channel. The bride was attended, in place of bridesmaids, by two young pages dressed as airmen in white flying suits.

Lady Angela Dawnay, the Duchess of Gloucester’s youngest .sister, whose marriage took place recently, and who will make her home in Auckland soon, is a wonderful ice skater, and very fond of amateur theatricals. She has a sense of humour and a distinct flair for impersonation. Like all her family she is a good horsewoman.

Alusic-lovers, who have vivid memories of the recent visit of the Spiva-kovsky-Kurtz trio, will read with interest of the news of the wedding last month of Air Edmund Kurtz and Aliss Barbara Bellair. The wedding took place in the gulden of the bride’s home at Eiddell Creek, in the Alacedon district, Victoria, Australia. Air Kurtz is attached to the staff of the Alelbourne University Conservatorium.

The engagement is announced of Viscount Elveden, son and heir of the Earl and Countess of Iveagh, and Lady Elizabeth Hare, second daughter of the late Earl and Freda, Countess of Listowel, younger sister of the present Earl. Lord Elveden, who was at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, was born in 19.12, and Lady Elizabeth in 1914. They share a common birthday, May S. The Countess of Iveagh was, before her marriage, Lady Gwendoline Onslow, and, when in her ’teens, she was with her parents atGovernment House, Wellington, also her sister, now tess Halifax, and her brother, the present Earl of Onslow. W.D.F.IJ. Monthly Meeting of Ohau Branch. The Ohau Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union hold its usual monthly afternoon in the Ohau Hall on Thursday, there being an exceptionally large attendance of more than 80 ladies. The guests of the afternoon were forty small children from the Infant Department of the Ohau School. These little folk entertained the exceptionally large gathering with songs, recitations, playettes and folk dancing, the performance being of such a high standard that they well merited the applause given them. Aliss Hughes and her assistants are to be heartily congratulated, not only for the children’s performance, but also for their exemplary behaviour throughout the afternoon, The children were 'then entertained to a tea party before returning to the school. During the afternoon, opportunity was taken to extend the branch’s congratulations to Aliss Evelyn Howland, who is shortly to be married, and to ask her to accept a small gift of china on behalf of the members and the branch’s very best wishes for her future happiness. The afternoon was also taken advantage of to bid farewell to Airs E. V. Brown, who is shortly leaving the district, and she was asked by the President, Airs H. J. AlcLeavey, to accept a bouquet from the members as a small totcen of the helpful interest she had always taken in the Ohau Branch.

Tho task of .supervising the afternoon tea arrangements for the children and the adults -was in the capable hands of .Mrs H. .Saint and the junior members of the branch, Misses I. Bowling, F. Badley, X. Crowe, I. Frew, IF Rowland and X. Small. To all of these the Committee is grateful. The President announced that the demonstration for the July afternoon would be smocking and would be given by Mrs R. G. Wall. Also that (he competition would be a one egg cake and the roll call a “sweet” recipe. It was decided that as the second Thursday would fall during conference week, the meeting be • postponed until tho third Wednesday.
